After years of raising her family, Mary returned to work at Far West Federal Savings for five years until her retirement in May,1985. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie and was active with the Ladies Guild and Altar Society. Mary enjoyed many hobbies: genealogy, reading, gardening, music and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was proud of her Swiss heritage and enjoyed traveling to Switzerland. Mary was predeceased by Lyle in 1988. She is survived by daughters JoyceVan Nostrand of Tahlequah, OK; Linda Robins of Clackamas, OR; Anita Brickell of New York City, NY; Carolyn McCuaig of Portland, OR; and son William Jarmin of Portland, OR; sister Rose Widmer of Portland, OR; brother Arnold Widmer of Medford, OR, grandchildren: Mary Iovino,Len Malmquist, Melissa Brickell, Amanda Bellows, Matt Brickell, Stephanie McCuaig,Ian McCuaig, great grandchildren: Chiara Iovino and Kieran Iovino. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Milwaukie on Saturday, February 18, at 10:00 a.m. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’sAssociation, Oregon Chapter.Mary Jarmin
Mary died peacefully in her sleep Monday, February 6, 2012 at a memory care facility in Happy Valley, Oregon. Born October 8, 1926 in Medford,Oregon, she was the daughter of the late Xavier and Christina Widmer of Medford Oregon. Mary graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1944. She worked for First National Bank in Medford for a year before marrying WWII
