Marjorie Helene Noll

October 08, 1923 – December 16, 2024

Marjorie Helene Noll was born October 8, 1923 in Yamhill, Oregon to Reuben and Helene Noll.  She was predeceased by her husband of almost 50 years Willis J. Irvine, her brother Max Noll, her sister Frances Pino and her sons-in law Richard Kapranos and David Wills.

She is survived by 4 children, Linda, Laurie , Robert (Barbara) and Maureen (John), 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Marjorie graduated as valedictorian of her Yamhill high school class at the age of 16 and moved to Salem to work to earn money to attend Willamette University.  She transferred to OHSU to enter nursing school as a cadet nurse.  She met her future husband Red in the medical school library where he was in medical school.  After graduating from nursing school she worked at Emmanuel Hospital. They married in 1946 and then she traveled with Red to Iowa where he was a Navy student intern.

After he completed his internship they moved to the naval base in Alameda California where he was deployed to the Korean Conflict on a transport ship.  During this time Linda and Laurie were born.  When he completed his military service, they returned to Portland so that Red could join his Dad in general practice and Bob and Missy were born.  Marjorie was very involved in PTA, Portland Adventist Auxiliary and Sunnyside Methodist Church.  She returned to nursing at Portland Adventist and was awarded the Red Rose nurse and many volunteer awards after she retired.

She instilled in her children a strong work ethic, a desire for giving to others through volunteer work and love and devotion to family.  After Red’s death she moved to Cherrywood retirement village where she lived until her death.  Mom was known for her selflessness and humility.  She was a role model to all of us and she will be greatly missed. Donations in her memory could be made to Adventist Hospice or OHSU School of Nursing.
