Maria Milla

March 13th, 1945 – December 26th, 2024

Maria Milla (Buczynski), (Korol) of Portland Oregon, passed away from natural causes on December 26th, 2024. She was 79 years old.

Maria was born in Rothenburg, Germany, the daughter of Katherine Korol. She emigrated with her mother to the United States at a very young age, passing through Ellis Island. She settled in New York and lived there with her mother through high school. After high school, she married Martin Buczynski and had two children, Eugene and Vera, who she helped raise on Staten Island New York.

She moved to Hollywood, Florida, with her family and lived there for three years, and began a career as a nurse. She received many letters of commendation for the kind care she provided for her patients.

She later moved to Oregon, where she spent the majority of her life and continued to work as a nurse, eventually receiving her bachelor’s degree from Linfield College. She married her second husband, Oscar Milla, and took great care of him while he battled cancer. She became a caring grandmother of two and eventually gained her US citizenship. She loved reading, collecting antiques, and was devoted to her faith.

Maria is survived by her children, Eugene and Vera Buczynski, and grandchildren, Yuji Mimaya Buczynski and Emi Mimaya Buczynski.

She will rest in peace at the Willamette National Cemetery, interred next to Oscar Milla.
