July 21, 1987 - May 24, 2023 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Lara Catherine Morrow of Portland, Oregon moved from this realm to one of peace and tranquility on May 24, 2023 in her beloved Portland, and in doing so was reunited with those loved ones who preceded her there. Lara was born July 21,1987 to the late Larry James Morrow and Janis Morehart Morrow of Mabelvale, Arkansas, a spunky, cherished, and adored only child. She attended St. Theresa Catholic School through Grade 8 and excelled academically at Mount St. Mary Academy, where she was awarded a McAuley Achievement Scholarship her junior year. Prior to graduation from MSM in 2005, she received numerous scholarship offers from prominent out-of-state schools, but prior to making a final decision — and at her mother’s urging — made one last visit to Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. She immediately fell in love with its welcoming ambience and was offered a full four-year scholarship. Lara graduated from Hendrix magna cum laude in 2009 with a double major Bachelor of Arts degree and was awarded membership in the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. It was there where her love of exploring new and different cultures via a curriculum that promoted travel took root and grew. After a brief (and educational) stay in New York City, she returned home and at the suggestion of a friend moved to Portland, which “fit her like the proverbial glove.” There she has domiciled for the past ten years, established her own Reiki business, and advanced to the level of Master. In those years, she cultivated and grew a large circle of supportive friends who shared her ideology. Her feisty spirit and physical presence will be greatly missed. Look for her on the mountains, in the forests, and on the beautiful coastline of Oregon, where she will continue to dance in the moonlight! In addition to her father, Lara is predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Elton Robert Morehart, her maternal grandmother, Jaynelle (“NoNo”) Morehart Pittard, her fraternal grandfather, James Wilfred Morrow, and her beloved cousin, Nathan Robert Morehart. Left to cherish her memory until that blessed reunion is her mother, whom she anointed “My Best Friend”; her beloved partner, Jimmy Tardy, whose loving companionship greatly enhanced her last years here; her fraternal grandmother, Betty Frances Wright Morrow of Tucker Mountain (Solgohachia), Arkansas; uncles and aunts, Richard (Dick) and Virginia Morehart of Fairhope, Alabama, Dennis and Sarah Morrow of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and Kevin and Penny Morrow of Center Ridge, Arkansas; cousins Matt (Dana) Morrow of Flower Mound, Texas, Zach (Kim) Morrow of Springfield, Arkansas, Hunter (Amanda) Morrow of Springfield, Arkansas, and “special cousin” Tony Meyer of Sardis, Arkansas. Keep your sass and spunk, our darling . . . your light may have temporarily flickered, but did not dim. Know we’ll join you there in the sweet by and by on that beautiful shore! In tribute to Lara’s courageous battle with epilepsy, memorials may be made online to Epilepsy Foundation Arkansas (or mailed to 6834 Cantrell Road Suite #1674, Little Rock, AR 72207) or online to Epilepsy Foundation Oregon (or mailed to 16409 SE Division St Ste 216 PMB 1115 Portland,OR 97236). In keeping with her wishes, Lara will be cremated and her ashes scattered at a later date in Oregon among her favorite “haunts.” Memorial messages are welcome and may be posted on the Tribute Wall above the Obituary.
