May 28, 1947 - July 14, 2022 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends On the evening of July 14th, 2022, Dale passed away from a heart attack after doing something he loved; scoring a run for his senior softball team. Born Leonard “Dale” Tucker on May 28th, 1947, Dale was raised in Longview, Washington by his parents Frank and Lela Tucker. After graduating from R.A. Long High School in 1965, he attended a few years of college with a focus of architecture. Unfortunately, they did not offer graphic design courses, so he decided to join the Air Force. He served as a Chaplain’s Assistant, and then transferred to computer programming. Stationed mostly in the United States, he also served in Vietnam, and lastly Australia. Dale received an honorable discharge and then moved to Portland, Oregon, where he continued his civilian career as a computer programmer, until retiring in 2001. Dale enjoyed playing cards, computer games, going to the movies especially the James Bond series (collecting twenty-four of them), reading, completing the most challenging of puzzles, sports talk radio, listening to books on tape, going for walks, picking out individualistic calendars for friends and family at Christmas, traveling the world, listening to 60’s music and playing on the senior summer softball league. But his true passion was bowling; achieving the perfect game score “300” twice. He is survived by wife Charlene, six children, Chip, Dale, Gale, Kathryn, Joshua, and Angela; eighteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his aunt Frances, and cousin Kathy. He will be tremendously missed. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the Grand Court of Oregon, Order of the Amaranth for Diabetes Research. L. Dale Tucker
