Konrad Norman Hager

March 11, 1955 – November 18, 2022

Konrad Norman Hager of Sandy Oregon went peacefully into Jesus’ loving arms on the afternoon of 18 November 2022.  He was 67 years old.

Konrad was born on Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi, Mississippi on 11 March 1955. He was the fourth child, and third son of Rita Rose and Dean Nelson Hager. His 5-year-old sister, Karen, at the time remembers having quite the difficulty pronouncing and remembering his name.

Konrad traveled with his family from Biloxi, where he learned to walk, to England, Scotland, the Midwest, and then to Utah where he started school. Ultimately, he would travel to Gresham and finish his schooling at Mt Hood Community College.

He loved summers. Sister Kyna recalls many happy memories of hunting salamanders in a nearby creek, exploring the woods, making blackberry vine forts, finding crawdads in Johnson Creek under the Foster Road Bridge and many other adventures.  Playing cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians, GI Joe and pouring our very own lead soldiers from molten toothpaste tubes was great summer fun. Camaraderie extended to the neighbor’s cow pasture where he would play Flag Football with the Entenman boys. Once while playing two-on-two, Konrad ran backwards twisting his hips to elude the two boys (who had discounted his sister), then threw a “Hail Mary” to Kyna who caught it, surprising everyone! She easily stepped over the goal line winning the “Championship of the World” for the twosome!

For other entertainment Konrad represented Centennial High School in Chess. At home, he played doubles with Kyna against their parents in Cribbage. When he wasn’t practicing or playing games, Konrad could be found taking care of his animals; dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and lambs.  There was also time for smelt fishing the Sandy River, filling the buckets that filled the freezer.  Konrad could sell just about anything. Starting with candies and Christmas cards as a kid to selling tires, running his own business, and acquiring relics through barter.

Konrad is survived by his current wife of 34 years, Deborah Boucher Hager; his former wife, Faith O’Hara Piatt; siblings: Karl Hager, Anton (Nancy) Hager, Karyn (Bill) Morrison, and Kyna (Ken) Marks.  Konrad had three children: Melissa, Konrad, and Kevin; granddaughter Morgan; and many nieces, nephews and four aunts.

Konrad was preceded in death by his parents, Rita Rose and Dean Nelson Hager; grandparents, Bernice and Walter Zawistowski, and Margorie and LZ Hager.

A private service was held in accordance with Konrad’s wishes.
