I just found out about Kevin’s death last night, and I’m still a little bit in shock. Kevin and I weren’t great friends, as I only spend a few months in Portland every year. We have a house in Irvington neighborhood, not far from where he used to own a wine and cheese shop on 15th Ave. When he took over Foster and Dobbs , I would go in and regularly buy wine and cheese and sandwiches from him. My wife loved many of the sandwiches there. We spent a lot of time there, sometimes I’d have a glass of wine and be eating and instead of asking, Kevin would just come over and bring me another glass of wine….he come over with that wry smile and say something funny. He had a very easy way about him, which endeared him to everyone. One time his refrigerators for the cheese failed and he had to dispose of a lot of cheese, and he came out and said “we’re having a cheese party“ very enthusiastically and was selling a lot at half price. I bought a huge chunk of cheese from him even though I didn’t really want to, but he was just that kind of guy. He was the guy that had great energy and that made you want to be around him and support him. I’d random text from him and phone calls from him, I hadn’t heard from him for about six months and one day he called me out of the blue and said “hey man I’m walking past your house, just wanted to say hi“ In a town where everybody’s friendly, but very few people are friends, I’d like to think that Kevin was my friend. Life is like a blanket with a million little stitches and every single one of those stitches is a moment in time with friends and family. I’m so glad that Kevin was part of the fabric of my life and so many other peoples as well. I’m gonna take a moment for him and his family today. Rest easy buddy….

A true loss of a complete gentleman. We missed not knowing him better before his time came. We are with and there for the family forever.
