Karine Lea Simshaw

October 18, 1961 – December 26-2024

Karine Lea Simshaw, 63, passed away on December 26th, 2024. Born on October 18th 1961 to Janice and Earnest Ted Peterson in San Jose, California. Eventually, moving up to Portland, Oregon. Over time, she would work various jobs from housekeeping to working at a bingo hall. However, it was while working at a bowling alley that she would meet her eventual husband, Gordon Simshaw who she married March 9th, 1985.

Karine collected turtles. Almost anywhere you’d look around her room, you’d find plenty of turtles. She loved to play bingo, sharing that hobby with her kids. Other times you could find her playing a game of solitare, working on puzzles, reading a book, or watching a movie or TV show. She would also spend time crocheting various afghans for everyone. However, what she loved doing the most was spending time with and raising her kids and granddaughter. Whether it was volunteering at the school, going on field trips, or just spending time with them, she loved it all. Her father had a nickname for her. He called her Gizmo, which others then followed suit.

She is survived by her husband Gordon Simshaw, her kids James, Cassandra, and Bradley Simshaw, her granddaughter Nikita, brothers Thom and Ted Peterson, sister Alice Bush, and her nieces and nephews.
