My Heart goes out to the Pemberton Family. I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Dick, know your mom. Your family I always admired and loved spending time growing up around the Pembertons. Camping. Sleep overs and so on. Joyce and Dick will always carry a special place in my heart. Thank You for the Great Childhood Memories...

Joyce was an aunt but more like an older sister. She married my Uncle Dick when I was 9 years old and they lived in an upstairs apt. in the house next to ours! We could(and did) go over there anytime we wanted. My mother loved her sister-in-law and we were around her and our uncle all the time!! In the last twenty years or so i only saw her occasionally. Lives get too busy sometimes and I lived in faraway places. But the memories of Aunt Joyce and Uncle Dick will always be with me and I will always remember their smiles and the laughter whenever we we were together and remembered family experiences!! See you again Aunt Joyce.

Connie and Vickey and family, We are so deeply saddened to learn of Joyce's passing. Dad and I were up at Willamette National this week for the second anniversary of mom's passing, and stopped by to see Matthew and your dad while we were there as we always do (it gives me great comfort to have them right next to each other). We saw the plaque was off for engraving of your mom's name and we were so shocked and so sad. I had spoken with your mom right after I was up at Willamette National for mom's birthday August 4th; I had no idea she would be gone a week later. Having lost mom two years ago, our family knows how deeply Joyce will be missed. It is good to look back on happy times and all the fun our parents and our families had together growing up - them going out to dinner and dancing at the Elk's, and all of us packing up and spending a week camping at Wallowa Lake during the summer, and the get-togethers at each other's homes. And even the not-so-fun times like the cleanup of all the damage from the Columbus Day Storm - they were there for each other through thick and thin. I have such great memories of time spent with your family; both your parents were wonderful people. Donna and I have talked about how it gives us comfort, and I hope it does for you too, to know Joyce and Nina are together again on the other side. Their decades of friendship, sharing the joys and challenges of raising kids, their lunches, walks around Glendoveer, all that and more, meant so much to mom over the years. You did a beautiful job with the photos and obituary. Our hearts are with you at this sad time. Here is a Kahlil Gibran quote that gives me peace when I think about someone I have lost: "I have passed the mountain peak and my soul is soaring in the firmament of complete and unbounded freedom; I am in comfort, I am in peace." With love, the Cook family
