Oh no, I am so very sorry to see this. Jeanne and I knew each other for years in Portland, sharing our love for certain authors, gardening and many other things. I moved to Alabama and we just this year, I believe, connected again via email. I can't really find more words, just so very, very sorry for this loss.

Ms. JC had volunteered with AARP Foundation Experience Corps for four years, generous with her time, and her love of helping students succeed. She first helped Kindergarteners with reading basics, sharing with them her own love for books. She continued to tutor virtually during the pandemic and returned to in-person tutoring at Woodlawn Elementary School last year. We will miss her genuine warmth, keen sense of humor, colorful hats and dedication to the students. Experience Corps team at Metropolitan Family Service.

JC and I tutored Woodlawn School students together last year. It was the first year back after COVID restrictions. Needlessly to say, we had all kinds of feelings about being back at school. But we were there for the kiddos. She was a great partner in helping the students get comfortable with learning in person and providing excitement about books. Her dedication to the children was exemplary. And they knew how much she cared! She leaves a legacy of an enthusiastic bibliophile who conveyed her love of reading to her lucky students.
