Jane Frances Bridenbaugh Hansen

Jane Frances Bridenbaugh Hansen, 84, recently resided in Tigard, OR and formerly of Stratford, CT passed away on July 4, 2023, surrounded by her close family. Jane was predeceased by her parents, Mary Jane Caldwell Bridenbaugh and Elvin Paul Bridenbaugh, and her brother Paul Bridenbaugh. She is survived by her daughter, Amy Hansen (John Yanosy), son, Steven Hansen and grandchildren, Liam and Siana Yanosy.

Jane was a dedicated, supportive, and loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by her family. Jane was a lifelong learner and had many interests that she pursued throughout her life. She received her bachelor’s degree in musical theater from Ithaca College and her master’s degree in speech and drama from New York University. She worked as a social worker and was a speech and drama teacher at Stratford High School before becoming a full-time mother. Later in life, Jane went back to school to study the Alexander Technique and
became a practitioner.

She was a long-time member of the Stratford United Methodist Church in Stratford, CT, and sang in the choir for 40 years. She was known in her community for her beautiful soprano voice and was a soloist on countless occasions. She also used her talents in theater to direct musical and dramatic productions for church events and worship services. Jane was a socially conscious individual who cared about the world and donated to several causes including those that support wildlife, cancer research, and veteran services. In addition to her musical and educational accomplishments, Jane was a self-made master gardener, a lover of cats, and an exceptional cook. She was also an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry. She has taken the final leap of faith to join the choir of angels.

A memorial service will be held at the Stratford United Methodist Church, 2600 Main Street, Stratford, CT 06615 on Sunday, August 6, 2023, at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
