April 8, 1914 - June 5, 2017 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends James Williams Brown was born on April 8, 1914 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was the youngest of 21 children. He lived in Lawton until he moved to Portland, Oregon in 1952 and married Izora Jean Brown. They were married for 57 years. She fell asleep in death December 14, 2009. In 1969 Izora began studying with one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. At first James objected in various ways, but eventually began to study. Then in 1970, both James and Izora were baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. They served Jehovah together for 39 years until her death. He carried on in his service to Jehovah for another 8 years. He attended Congregation meetings, Assemblies and Conventions until he was 102 years old, setting a great example for all. Even though he could not go from door to door in later years, he had a literature stand in his room in which people would take copies of the Watchtower, Awake, brochures and other publications. In other words he was able to record 15 minutes of time per month and various placements. He was genuinely loved by all, both young and old. Without even having to say a word, people were drawn to James because of his warm, contagious smile that was always at the ready. It was apparent to everyone around him that he loved life to the full, but found the greatest joy in serving Jehovah. On June 5, 2017 after 103 years of life and 47 years of serving Jehovah he fell asleep in death. He is survived by his sons James Wesley Brown and Angelo Lamont Brown, his daughter Jamar Adena Buckley and a lot of grandchildren and great grandchildren. So, while we are sad to say goodbye to our Brother for now, we look forward to welcoming him back in the New World where James will be healthy and truly happy! The family of James Williams Brown would like to acknowledge with sincere appreciation all acts of kindness, expressions of sympathy and comfort shown during the passing of their dear loved one. Your generosity and thoughtfulness are very much appreciated.”
