James was born in Palastine, TX, to Odis Earl and Alice (Hilton) Missildine. He was the 5th of 13 children. He was raised in Palastine, Texas until the age 18 and then enlisted in the US Navy. He served 6 years in Hawaii and California. While stationed in California he met his beloved wife Barbara A. Hodge.

They lived in several places in California and relocated to Oregon in 1980.

James married Barbara in 1964, they welcomed daughter, Patty, born 1967 and son, James Jr born 1970. They have a Grandson, Michael.

Worked in the Cable Television field from 1966 til he retired in 2003. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, James Jr. Survived by his beloved wife of 51 years Barbara, Daughter Patty Givens, grandson Michael DeYoung and Great-Granddaughter Lilliona all of the Portland, Oregon area. James is also survived by 3 sisters; Nita, Opal and Linda all of Texas.

James was laid to rest with full Military Honors on November 24, at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.

A memorial service is planned Saturday, December 12th, 2015, 1PM at the LDS Church, Oatfield Ward 13520 SE Ruscliffe Ln, Milwaukie OR 97222. Refreshments will be served.
