James Curtis lino

August 28, 1956 – February 21, 2026

With heavy hearts, we share that James Curtis Lino died from cancer-related complications on February 21st, 2026, at 3:20am.

James was born on August 28, 1956, in Martinez, California, to Steven Lino and Wanda Anderson. He was the second of seven children.

He was raised by his aunt and uncle in California. Following his high school graduation, he joined the United States Air Force on September 18, 1974. By 1975, he had earned the rank of Airman and served as a Maintenance Specialist. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal. His honorable discharge took place on March 12, 1976.

He met Pamela Jo Lyons in 1980, and they fell in love, marrying the following year. During their first five years as a couple, they welcomed three children, raising them with love in Portland, OR. Sadly, he lost Pamela, the love of his life, on October 23, 2003.

He took great pleasure in working on cars, especially his Buick Riviera and Pontiac Grand Prix. In 1998, he became a grandfather—affectionately known as “Papa”—and cherished moments with his four grandchildren. He was always eager to expand his collections of Batman memorabilia, marbles, and model cars. He also loved watching new Marvel movies and adding them to his collection as they were released.

In his later years, he cherished moments with his great-grandchildren, feeling especially proud when his first great-grandson was named in his honor. He looked forward to phone calls and watching WWE with his daughter, Melody. He and his son Joshua bonded over discussions about philosophy and shared a passion for welding. He valued working on cars and doing home improvement projects with his son Jeremiah. James also delighted in goofing around with his grandson, Vincent.

James is remembered by his daughter, Melody Lino; his son and daughter-in-law, Joshua and Melissa Lino; and his son and daughter-in-law, Jeremiah and Donielle Lino. His four grandchildren, Joceline, Vincent, Justin, and Hailey, as well as his two great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and James. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A Committal Service with Military Funeral Honors will be held for him at Willamette National Cemetery on March 4th, 2026, at 11:00am. A celebration of life at his home will take place over the weekend. The family extends their gratitude to everyone whose donations made it possible to honor his wish of a proper burial.
