March 2, 1929 - January 13, 2017 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Map to Evangelical Lutheran Church Jack Keith Stinson passed January 13, 2017 peacefully in his home in Scappoose surrounded by people who loved him. Jack was a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Uncle, Partner and friend to many. Jack was born on March 2, 1929 in Wenatchee, Washington. Jack graduated from Parkrose High School. Jack married Joy Overbey shortly after high school and they were together for 55 years until her passing in 2004. They built their first home next door to where Joy was raised. In that home they raised their daughters. At a young age, Jack began working on trucks, cars, and building and racing hot rods. He owned gas stations and was known in the Northwest as a transmission specialist. Later he started his many years in construction. Jack loved the outdoors. They tried for a boy and ended up with 5 girls whom he taught to fish and shoot. Their vacations, and many weekends, were spent camping, boating, fishing and hunting with family and friends. Jack also loved animals. He bred and raised race horses, dogs and black angus cows, and always had extra animals at the house. After retiring Jack and Joy moved to one of their favorite places, the beach, where they built their house in Gearhart with the help of three generations of family and many friends. Jack and Joy spent the last ten years of her life at the coast enjoying the many visits from their now very large and continuously growing family of kids, son-in-laws, grandkids, great grandkids, as well as his brother, sisters and many friends. They also enjoyed the elk, deer, geese and all the activities and beauty of the area. Jack moved from Gearhart to Scappoose where he met Carole Johnson. Blessed to meet another woman whom he loved, and spent the last ten years of his life keeping busy and traveling around, including being snowbirds at Lake Havasu. He loved her children and their extended family and welcomed them into his heart unconditionally. At family gatherings Jack was known for his mouth watering baked salmon, delicious salmon dip and blueberry muffins. On occasion a wonderful lemon meringue pie or his mother’s, one of a kind, floating island was a rare treat. Everyone who met him, liked him. He could tell stories that had everyone laughing. He was a great host and the first thing he asked when you walked in the door was “whatcha drinkin?’ He was a prankster, and also the kindest, most gentle, humble, and fun-loving man ever known. Jack will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Jack is survived by his five daughters: Linda Wakefield of Sweet Home, Teri Stinson of Portland, Julie Kolberg of Gresham, Kelly Webb of Oregon City and Jackie Imel of Washougal, 13 Grandchildren and 15 Great Grandchildren.
