EULOGY OF THE LATE GEOFFREY MAINA KIGOTHO BIRTH The late Geoffrey Kigotho was born on 8th August 1946 in Gathaithi village, Chehe Sub-location, lria-ini location, Mathira Sub- County. His parents were Labanson Kigotho Maina and Mary Wanjugu Kigotho. His siblings are Lucy Njeri Mugo, Doris Wairimu Kigotho, Florence Wakonyu and the late Grace Muthoni Wachira, the late Mill icent Nyathama and the late John Ngure. HIS CHILDHOOD In his childhood, Maina Kigotho, helped his parents with household chores that were done by boys of his age. EDUCATION Maina started his education in 1957at Gathaithi Primary school until 1964 and passed well. In 1964, he joined Kanjuri Secondary school until 1967. He then proceeded to Mombasa Polytechnic to pursue a course in Electrical engineering. CHURCH Maina Kigotho joined baptism class at Kiaruhiu PCEA church and was baptized as Geoffrey Kigotho. He was later confirmed after attending confirmation class. In 2018, Geoffrey and his wife were invited to the Seattle, Washington, USA by their daughter Zelda. While there, they joined St Mark’s Anglican Church where he was a strong member. In 2021, they moved to Portland Oregon and joined Upendo Anglican church and he became a member of the Joshua team. WORK When Geoffrey finished college, he started working at African Marine from 1968- 197 4. From Mombasa, he was employed by Pan African Paper Mills, Webuye where he worked until his retirement. While in Webuye, he engaged in various businesses. He ventured in the Matatu industry, butchery, Posho mill, selling maize etc. After retirement, he returned back home in Karatina where he continued pursuing his businesses MARRIAGE Geoffrey met the love of his life Lucy Njambi Kwereba and they married under Kikuyu customary law in 1971. They later solemnised their marriage in 1981. They were blessed with 5 children. This are, Rachael Wanjiku, Samuel Kinyua, Angela Wangari, Zelda Muthoni and the late John Mureithi. SICKNESS Geoffrey started having health challenges in 1989 and was treated in various hospitals such as Kenyatta National Hospital, Eldoret Referral Hospital, Outspan Hospital, (Nyeri). In Seattle, he was hospitalized at St Francis Hospital (Federal Way) and St Joseph Hospital (Tacoma). In Portland Oregon, he was hospitalized at Mt Hood, Adventist and Providence Hospitals. On 10th March 2023 at around 8.00am, Geoffrey passed on at the age of 76 years. He was quiet, loving and supportive to the work of God. He is survived by his wife, 4 children, 13 grandchildren namely Roni Mafna, Monique Njambi, Shelly Njambi, Risper Njambi, Valentine Wangu, Monique Njambi, Risper Mbura, Munene, Monique Njambi, Kimberly Njambi, Monique Njambi, Emilia Wanjiru and Prisca Nungari and one great grandchild.
