May 7, 1949 - March 13, 2025 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends On March 13, 2025, Gene Allen Fadel—a pain-free, cancer-free, and faithful man of God—became heaven’s newest resident. Gene was born on May 7, 1949, in Fairbury, Illinois, to Barbara and Dr. Eugene Fadel. He met the love of his life, Jani, at Salem Academy, where they both graduated in 1967. Gene then spent four years in Upland, Indiana, attending Taylor University and playing football. Gene and Jani married on August 9, 1969, and were blessed with three children: Todd, Tina, and Tim Fadel. Their son Tim preceded Gene in death, passing in 2008. A dedicated educator and coach, Gene spent several years teaching and coaching football at Portland Christian and Lake Oswego High Schools. Later, he and Jani proudly owned and operated Taxco for over 40 years. The Fadel family called Living Hope Baptist Church home for nearly four decades. Gene served on the board of ministry, taught Sunday School, led care groups, and shared his God-given musical talent by playing the trumpet for the congregation. For almost 30 years, Gene organized and cherished the annual Snake River trip, a highlight of his year. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Jani; his mother, Barbara Fadel; brother, Evan Fadel and their families; son Todd Fadel; daughter Tina Fadel Avalos and her family; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by just recently, his brother, Dan Fadel, his father, Dr. Eugene Fadel, and his son Tim Fadel. While the void Gene leaves behind is impossible to fill, we take comfort in imagining his joyful reunion with his father, brother and son at his new forever home. Until we meet again—rest in paradise, Coach Fadel. You will be deeply missed! There will be a Memorial Service, 2:00 pm Saturday, April 19th, 2025, at Omega Funeral & Cremation Service, 223 SE 122nd Avenue, Portland, Oregon, family is accepting flowers via Omega. Gene A. Fadel
