Frances Jean Hamilton

March 25, 1955 – March 03, 2024

Frances Jean Hamilton was born March 25, 1955, in Portland, Oregon at Emanuel Hospital to Otis and Gladys Hamilton. When Frances was 9 years old, the family migrated back to St Louis, Missouri. She attended Patrick Henry Elementary School and St. Patrick’s Elementary School in St. Louis. Frances also attended Central High School and later, she earned her GED.

Frances met Albert Greenlee Sr. in grade school, and they later became childhood sweethearts. They became parents to four sons:  James Anthony (Johnette), Charles Lewis, Albert Lewis Jr. and Kenneth Otis. Frances and Albert married in 1975 in Portland, Oregon at Holy Redeemer Church.

Following the footsteps of her mother, Frances became a Home Healthcare Aide. She was known for her homestyle cooking and worked as a Chef/Cook at local establishments including Shandons, Cleo’s, Mycap, and Odd Fellows. Frances retired in 2020 from Tidee Didee as a Laundry Sorter.

One of her favorite pastimes was baking cakes and cookies for family and friends. She also loved music, crocheting, shopping and playing games on her cellphone. She loved having Sunday family dinners.

Frances passed away at home on March 3, 2024, surrounded by family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her mother and father, her sisters Geraldine, Ernestine, Nadine, Hattie and her brother, Julius.

Frances leaves behind her partner, Albert; her sister, Hazel (Ira) Cheatham; her four wonderful sons and her beloved stepson, Dwayne (Tiffiny) and stepdaughter, Alicia Minner. She also leaves behind five grandchildren, Arontae, Marquis, Timia, Sarina and Brooklyn and four great-grandchildren, Quoy, Qhalil, Amari and King. She also has a host of nieces, nephews and many friends, who will cherish her memory.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at First African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 4304 N Vancouver Avenue, Portland, Oregon on Saturday March 16, 2024 11:00am.
