Born January 17, 1946 Manila, Philippines.

Passed away November 27, 2014 Portland Oregon.

Mother: Catalina Rubio Cassera of Moncada Tarlac, Philippines.

Father: Francis X. Cassera New York City, New York.

Eric came to Portland Oregon from the Philippines, in June 1960 at the age of 14 with his parents Catalina and Francis X. Cassera, two brothers Anthony and Disraeli. They settled in

N.W. Portland.

Eric attended Couch Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1966. Eric had one year of college and then in 1967 he joined the U.S. Navy. He was assigned to the USS Brister DER 327 ( Destroyer Escort Radar) & the USS Charles Berry DE 1035

( Destroyer Escort), They were part of “Operation Market Time” off the coast of Vietnam.

In 1967 he returned home to Portland and continued his college education and earned a certificate degree from Mt. Hood Community College as a Respiratory Therapist. He also earned another certificate degree as an EKG Technician. Eric was a medical professional his entire life.

Here in Portland he worked at many hospitals and nursing care facilities. City of Roses, St.Vincents Hospital, Providence Hospital, Tuality Community Hospital, Woodland Park Hospital, Emanuel Hospital, OHSU and the Veterans Hospital Portland Oregon.

In 1993 in Hilo, Hawaii he worked at Hilo Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist.

In 1993 in Honolulu, Hawaii he worked at Tripler Army Medical Center, as a Cardiology Technician. Eventually becoming in charge of the Heart Pacemaker Clinic at Tripler Army Medical Center Honolulu, Hawaii. He also worked at Castle Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist from 1993-1997. He retired from Tripler Army Medical Center in 2009.

After his retirement he continued to work full time at Kapiolani Medical Center Hospital in Honolulu in Sterilization and Supply.
