Ella Peal Alexander (née McDonald)

November 15, 1954 – July 20, 2023

Ella Peal Alexander (née McDonald), late of Portland, passed away on July 20, 2023, at Adventist Health Portland due to cardiac arrest. She had been suffering from Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) for 23 years.

Ella was born in Heidelberg, MS on November 15, 1954. She went on to graduate from Portland Community College in 1986 and then worked at the Portland VA Medical Center from 1986 to 1993. Following that, she worked at the Phoenix Pharmacy on Foster Road from 1993 to 1999 before retiring back in 2003. Ella arrived in Oregon with her three children in 1979 and had another child the following year. In 1986, she went back to college, and in 1989, she had her first grandchild. In 1999, she got remarried and had her first great-grandchild in 2018. Throughout her life, Ella was dedicated to hard work, inspiring generations to do the same. She had the ability to make connections and used her social skills to benefit herself and those she cared for. Ella never accepted anything at face value and found pleasure in creating a sense of beauty in her home. She enjoyed fishing, baking, gardening, playing video games, and spending time with her family.

Ella is survived by her daughter LaTesia Davis; daughter Toni McDonald; son Michael McDonald; granddaughter Sharnell Davis; granddaughter Keyonna Wallace; granddaughter Sameria Carol; grand son Devontae Davis; grandson Vontae Evans; great-grandson Keimonte J. Honore; great-granddaughter Kayci Ella Harris. Ella was preceded in death by Shirley Jones McDonald; Tom Luther McDonald; Kenneth E. Alexander Sr.; Jermain D. McDonald; Charley McDonald; Frank E. McDonald. A graveside service for Ella will be held on August 3rd, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Willamette National Cemetery (11800 SE Mt Scott Blvd, Happy Valley, OR 97086). Friends and family are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of condolences or other wishes.
