Elizabeth Peralta was born on April 25, 1932 in Honolulu, Hawaii, one of six children born to Agaton and Juanan (Castro Maranan) Soriano and passed peacefully on September 19th at St. Anthony’s Village, Portland, Oregon.

Elizabeth was united in marriage to Gervacio Peralta in 1949 and they remained faithful companions until his passing in 2002.  She was a loving mother to nine children, Joseph (Anita) Peralta, San Diego, CA; Mary Kamalii,  St. Robert, MO; Antonio Peralta, Honolulu, HI; Monica (Michael Lopergolo) Malia, Waldorf, MD; Rosalind Peralta, Kansas City, MO, John Peralta, Portland, OR; Peter Peralta, Portland, OR; Elizabeth (William) Smith, Fort Myers, FL; and Gervacio Peralta, Jr. who preceded her in death.  She was further blessed with 12 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren

An always happy person, she loved, laughed, and made others laugh with her.  A nearly life-long resident of Hawaii, Elizabeth was known for her thoughtful generosity to others and garnered local newspaper coverage for volunteer work during her time in Oahu.  It was said she would give her last dollar to someone who she thought was in need. Elizabeth was forever moved by the spirit of Christmas, and wanted to share the joy with others, serving for decades as a volunteer Christmas Bell Ringer for the Salvation Army.  Inspired by others to make her local community better, she also gave of herself to political campaigns, going door to door to improve the lives of her neighbors.  While small in physical stature, she possessed a large heart and unstoppable will.

She will be missed and treasured by so many. Her granddaughter wrote “We love you grandma and know that you are with Grandpa smiling from ear to ear down on all of us. My heart will continue to skip a beat every time I hear a Salvation Army bell ring or see an overly festive Christmas sweater.”
