August 29, 1924 - January 1, 1970 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Born in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada on August 29, 1924, she graduated from Winnipeg General Hospital as a Registered Nurse in 1946. She moved to Ladysmith, BC, Canada on Vancouver Island she met Darl “Ted” Brown, and they were married on October 14, 1948. A few years later Ted & Edna moved to Portland, Oregon with 2 daughters, Gail & Darlene. At Providence Hospital Portland she continued nursing. Retiring in 1988 as a Night Supervisor of the hospital after a 40+ year career. Edna & Ted built and moved into their new family home near Christmas of 1957 with baby son Glenn. Daughter Sharon was born in 1964. Annual trips were made to Canada to stay connected to relatives and friends. They enjoyed many family vacations in the western states and Canada. Edna loved the Oregon Coast, was an avid gardener and great cook. Edna was an active member of Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church for 60 years. She was a Deacon, Elder, Voyager, Skipper, Admiral, Sunday School Teacher, Craft Angel and Senior Tripper Nurse. She served her church family, neighborhood and community selflessly. She helped and volunteered at local schools. She loved music, entertaining and organizing neighborhood picnics and gatherings. Edna and Ted were also members of the Portland Curling Club and all their children curled as well. They loved hosting our local Bonspiel in Portland during Rose Festival and going to Seattle or Canada for other Bonspiels. Edna loved her family, was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family and beyond. She is survived by her daughters: Gail Brown Steinmann, Darlene Brown and Sharon Brown. She was very proud of her 4 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ted, and son Glenn Brown. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11AM at Savage Memorial Presbyterian Church on 139th & S E Mill, Portland, Oregon. Memorials may be made to Providence Hospice or her church.
