May 23, 1933 - June 1, 2022 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Lee was born on May 23, 1933 in Big Sandy, Montana, where his parents and both sets of grandparents had homesteaded. He was proud of his Norwegian heritage. When hard times came and the locusts ate all the crops, the family moved to North Portland. It was here where he fell in love and married his high school sweetheart Cary. Lee served in the Air Force, as a codebreaker in Germany, and then in the Army, finishing with his medical degree. He set up practice in N.E. Portland, through Providence and Adventist Hospitals. When asked what kind of doctor he was, he would reply, “A good one. I should be. I’ve been practicing for years!” Together Lee & Cary raised four children and moved to the Gresham area. Lee strived to be a great provider and worked hard at school, work and play. This afforded his family, and countless others, fun and fellowship. An example of this is the building, from scratch, “the cabin” on the lake. He made this a community effort, with family and friends all pitching in. When the cabin was finished, he generously shared with friends and family. Many honeymoons, church gatherings, and vacations happened there. In this sharing, both the giver and the receiver were blessed. Lee was a solid man of God. He served for many years as elder at Mountainview Christian Church in Gresham, and never missed a chance to tell someone about Jesus. His quick wit and humor was well known. He loved to hunt and ride dirt bikes. He was an avid photographer, proudly displaying his photos of his visits to Kenya. He was a voracious reader and an even more voracious eater-of-ice cream. Lee is preceded in death by his one and only sweetheart, Cary, his parents, Mervin and Adella Gleason and his two brothers Jimmy & Lyle but survived by daughter LeeAnne (Fred) Foreman; son Steve (Joanne); son Greg (Carolyne) Gleason; and daughter KayLynn (Bob) Mather. He leaves behind granddaughter Merilee (Bryan) Schmidt and grandsons Jeromi (Elysha) Gleason, Matt Gleason, Scotty Mather, Tony Mather, Adam Gleason, Andrew (Katie) Gleason, and Alexander Gleason. Also, great-granddaughter, Ryley Gleason and great-grandsons Finneas Gleason, Sawyer Gleason, and Desmond Schmidt. His cremains have been laid to rest next to his beloved wife Cary, though his heart and soul have joined hers in Heaven with their Lord. A celebration of his life open house will be held July 2, 2022 2PM-4PM at Mountainview Christian Church, 1890 NE Cleveland, Gresham, OR. Military Honors rendered at 2PM. Come visit with the family. Inurnment will take place at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon with his previously inurned beloved wife Cary. LEE GLEASON’S VIDEO TRIBUTE CLICK HERE For Cary’s Obituary CLICK HERE
