Don was a great neighbor and winter citizen of Desert Braemar in Rancho Mirage, CA. At our snowbird, dinner socials you could count on Don to check quietly whether there might be a second chocolate covered ice cream bar. For Don, you bet. He and Donna made all of our lives better here. We send our love and condolences upon his passing. Norm and Kathy Roseburg, Oregon

Don was Our American Hero! We are lucky to have had him in our lives. The saying “To know him is to Love him” could not be a more perfect description of Don. We held him in the highest regard. God Bless You Don.

Every time I got together with Don it was a trip down memory lane. I loved the stories he would tell, some were of road trips or adventures he took with my dad, Roger, some old stories from his past, that put a smile on your face or made you laugh so hard your sides hurt, and some stories that were sad. Don was a soft spoken man but he also was the type of man that wouldn't take guff from anyone, he was that gentle giant and no-one can ever fill his shoes. I was so honored to get attend the Sisters Rodeo with him and Donna in the summer of 2019, they were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. So many wonderful years in a life well spent. I will forever have a special place in my heart for this wonderful man.

Don was the best neighbor Kay and I have ever known. Always good humored and upbeat, Don appreciated life and loved his family and friends. He spent many hours keeping watch on our circle and the kids nearby. He loved wrangling the electric mower cord with his beloved Donna at the helm, fishing the river with son Don and grandson Brandon, and recalling stories of his days aboard the USS Nevada and later in the firehouse. We will miss his sweet smile.
