September 28, 1936 - July 30, 2025 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Dolores (Dory) Jean Plotner, affectionately known as Gokie, passed away on July 30, 2025. Dolores was born in Portland, Oregon in 1936 and lived in the local area her entire life. Growing up in the Depression era, Dolores and her siblings, Audrey and Don, found things to keep them happy such as the penny candy from a nearby store. Dolores worked at Kaiser Hospital as a receptionist for many years and after retirement volunteered repairing books for Seth Lewelling Elementary School in Milwaukie. Dolores was an active participant in Alcoholics Anonymous and was very proud of her recovery and sobriety. She acted as a sponsor supporting many recovering alcoholics. Dolores met her husband, Jack, at McElroy’s Ballroom in downtown Portland. Dolores said that Jack asked her to dance and while they were on the dance floor she told him a joke that made him laugh so hard that he was doubled over, which undoubtedly won his heart. Jack and Dolores were married in 1957 and had two children, Lynette and Deena. Dolores loved the Lord, her family and friends, AA, candy, Pepsi, cats, dogs, shopping, word search puzzles, and anything purple. Dolores was a favorite among the staff at Emerson House and Bristol Hospice. Dolores was known for her comments of “You betcha” and “You bet your bottom dollar”. She had also acted as a self-appointed judge by announcing “Order in the court!” at Emerson House. Dolores will be missed by all and is survived by her daughters, Lynette and Deena, grandchildren, Allie, Adam, and Janelle, great-grandson Jameson, nieces Sue, Andrea, Tori, Jerri, Leslie, and Lois, nephew Scott, and additional relatives including Janita, Christopher, Jordan, Jeannie, Ray, Anthony, Jim, and Bob. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Jack, brother Don, sister Audrey, and nephew Jeff. Dolores J. Plotner
