David Richard Sulzen

June 26, 1952 – May 15, 2024

On May 15th, David Richard Sulzen, 71, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his Fairview, Oregon home following years of battling illness and declining health.

He leaves behind his wife Jann Joyce Sulzen of 42 years, his two daughters Nicole Sulzen and Tara (Sulzen) O’Brien, his son-in-law Oliver O’Brien, his grand-daughter Nova O’Brien and numerous family members.

Dave grew up and spent most of his life in Natick; explored what he called “quasi-retirement” in North Carolina and Arizona; and ultimately moved to Oregon to live minutes from his grand-daughter. Dave was a devoted friend – he kept in touch with so many childhood friends and neighbors from Natick; In North Carolina he was so welcoming that he became known to his community as “the Mayor of Woodlake;” And of course Dave made fast friends with anyone wearing Red Sox or Patriots gear. He was an avid golfer and always enjoyed his time on and off the course with his extended family and Nehoiden golfing buddies, visiting and playing courses across the country.

Dave was known for his sense of humor and kept us all laughing with his endless treasure trove of jokes and one-liners. His lasagna, meatballs, sauce, and garlic bread were all legendary from coast to coast and it brought Dave great joy to share the fruits of these closely-held recipes with family, friends and neighbors.

His family hopes to hold a celebration of his life in Natick this fall and will share details when available.
