I'm reeling from this loss. Dave was the person who introduced me to Portland Parks and was my first supervisor at Mt. Scott Community Center. From the moment I started, Dave cheered me on and supported me and we became quick friends. Dave was a force in parks- he was devoted to the community, he loved meeting and helping people, he was always there for everyone. He truly was a parkie, down to his core. As a friend, he always had my back and we'd talk for hours about old school hip hop, cooking recipes, life. In the last few years, I left Portland Parks, but Dave would always check in on me and cheer me on. This is hard to say, but it's only until now that I realize how much Dave's support and positivity has meant to me over the years. And not only me, but all the people he's touched. If Dave hadn't given me a chance when I was still very green in college, who knows where I'd be. Dave opened a door for me that has allowed me to be the person I am now, and I will always be grateful to him for that. I miss you Dave. I hope you're having a great golf game up in the sky. You'll be in our hearts and be remembered as a great dad, husband, friend and mentor. Rest easy, friend.

Working with Dave at Mt Scott for almost four years, he was a positive part of my every day. I loved the crew I worked with there, and Dave was no exception. We often talked about the significance of lifting people up, helping them find their confidence, making them feel important, and how putting that into practice with your co-workers could translate to serving the greater community. This community-building philosophy we shared in common helped us to connect almost immediately. That and music....and a good cup of coffee. Dave, you always felt like a brother, you were so kind, you had a fantastic sense of humor, you were an adequate dancer, you were a great hype-man, a great support system, and a great colleague. Truly one of a kind. I will miss you, my friend. May every happy memory of you continue to lift up all of us who know and love you.

David was my supervisor at Sellwood Community Center. I just bumped into him on Mt Tabor and was so happy to see his smiling face! He was so kind and caring, I will always remembered his readiness to help others. He will be missed. It's a great loss for all. Sympathy and condolences to his family and loved ones.

Dave was my supervisor at parks and rec for over 8 years and more than that, I considered him a friend. He always had a smile on his face was probably the kindest person I ever had the privilege to know. Often I’d spend time after my shifts just talking to him about life and he’d always tell me about how much he loved being a dad. He was always encouraging me and went out of his way on multiple occasions to help me out when I needed it. He made a big impact on my life and I’m going to miss him a lot.
