September 22, 1955 - April 22, 2015 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Services will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, at 25 N Rosa Parks Way, Portland. 97217 Clayton is survived by his 29-year companion Jo Ann Bingham, Joedean and Jaydene Bingham, his children. He is also survived by siblings Don, Mary (Beth), Janet, Mark, Michael, and Susan. He was preceded in death by parents Clayton A and Mary Irene Baker, and sisters Barbara and Ruth. Clayton attended Holy Redeemer grade school in North Portland, where he was an altar boy. He was the 6th of nine siblings in the Baker family. He attended Benson Polytechnic High School, John Adams High, and graduated from Jefferson High in 1973. He worked as a cab driver, and as a land surveyor. He was a member of the Painter and Taper Union, an expert in this field for many years, his most recent employer was Cascade General. Loving a good adventure, during his teens, he hitchhiked across the country and attended Woodstock, his favorite of many concerts and festivals. He was known as an avid collector of memorabilia, tools, and whatever «just might be useful sometime to someone.» He was curious about how things worked, and loved to share his discoveries with others. He was a perfectionist: if he was going to do it, he would do it to the best of his ability. He made a clock for JoAnn that he put a lot of love and care into, and it is evident! He was willing to go all the way when he believed in something. He showed his love, and it was unwavering. He had a kind and gentle spirit. He loved music, especially rock & roll, the blues and jazz,.and played guitar and harmonica. He enjoyed nature, which led him to fishing, hunting, clamming, crabbing, and rock collecting. Did we mention collecting? He was actually quite a collector, mostly of wonderful friends. Clayty loved to entertain his friends too, which brings to mind his Virgo birthday parties, which were legendary. If you knew him, well….you know him.
