Christopher Bekins

Christopher Bekins, 72 passed away peacefully on March 30, 2023 from a battle with illness. Marlene, his wife of 47 years was at his side.

Christopher loved life and lived each day to its fullest. He had an insatiable curiosity for knowledge and was a voracious reader. He enjoyed walks along the beach, his pets, trips abroad and car trips throughout the United States and Canada, DIY projects and working alongside his wife in their wildlife garden.
He was passionate about art and painting in oils. He painted and drew throughout his youth. After college he focused on a career in financial systems in the San Francisco Bay Area, yet he took art classes from time to time and visited art museums and galleries. He resumed painting in 1999, taking workshops and classes and entered his first juried show that summer. In 2002 he left his job as a systems analyst at Stanford University and relocated to the central coast of California to pursue painting full time. In 2021 he and his wife relocated to Astoria Oregon where he continued to paint and take part in the art community. His paintings have been in numerous shows and exhibitions and received multiple awards.

He was a kind and thoughtful soul who will be greatly missed by the many lives he touched.

Christopher leaves behind his wife (Marlene), uncle (Newell), aunt (Mary Ann), brother (Robert), sister in law (Cindi), nephew and his family (James, Amy, Caleb, Connor and Isabelle), cousins and many loving and caring friends.
