Christian Wayne Rogers

March 18, 1970 – August 20, 2025

Christian was born in Sylacauga, Alabama. Known to his family as Chris and his friends as Clovis, Chris enjoyed roaming the woods and waters of the Talladega National Forest. He and his friends fished and hunted together, rode the back roads listening to classic rock on the radio, plus enjoyed caving and white-water canoeing. Chris met his wife Donna Pate in high school, and they had one beloved son, Caleb of whom Chris was very proud and spoke often. Chris competed in go cart racing in his youth which launched his later penchant for stock car racing and work as an accomplished snow groomer at ski resorts near Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Divorced, he joined a childhood friend to live and work in the agricultural and sea fishing trades among the San Juan Islands of Washington State where he took on the nicknames of “Bama” and “TNT.” It was there in Friday Harbor where he met his life partner Cristina DuVall. They enjoyed many years of friendship singing karaoke, camping, and exploring the Pacific Northwest with their dogs Coeli and Ruby.

Chris struggled with opioid and alcohol addiction throughout his life which contributed to several health problems in his later years. He took on his formal name Christian and finally found sober fellowship with nearly two years of recovery before succumbing to a heart attack in Gresham, Oregon at the age of 55.

He is preceded in death by his father Jimmy Rogers, grandmother Madie Hammons, and grandfather JD Hammons.

He is survived by his mother, Donjette Rogers, son Caleb Rogers, extended family, plus many caring friends. He will be remembered for his tenacity, humor, and resilience.

A celebration of life will be held on San Juan Island later to be determined.
