Carolyn “Cary” Viola Gleason

August 12, 1934 – December 02, 2018

In the early morning of December 2, 2018, Carolyn “Cary” Viola Gleason passed away at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center, Portland, Oregon. With her family’s surrounding comfort and great skill and care of medical staff, her heart gave way to heaven, and God took her home at the age of 84.

Cary was born on August 12th, 1934 in North Bend, Oregon to parents Harvey Butler and Rena Marie (Walker) Carr.  An inquisitive and rambunctious youth with close siblings molded her to be a caring and compassionate lady.  Falling in love with her high school sweetheart, she married Lee Arthur Gleason of Portland, supporting his service in the Air Force and Army and further as he continued through medical school.

Raising 4 children with her husband, she filled her life loving and caring for others around her.  With endeavors like church secretary, Girl Scout leader, bible study leader, musician, neighbor or friend, that always left clues of her faithfulness and Christ’s love with a generous gift of time and thoughtful heart.

The scope and reach of her caring deeply reached many avenues and touched many people. Her hobbies included painting, playing music, cooking & baking for others and surrounding herself with family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Rena Carr; her sister Margaret and brother-in-law Jack Cook; Her sister Helen “Honey” Carr; her brother James “Jim” Carr and brother Grant “Jan” Carr.

Left to grieve her incredible loving spirit are her devoted and loving husband, Lee Arthur “Doc” Gleason M.D.; Her eldest daughter LeeAnne and son-in-law Fred Foreman; her eldest son Steve and daughter-in-law Joanne Gleason; her youngest son Greg and daughter-in-law Carolyne Gleason; her youngest daughter KayLynn and son-in-law Bob Mather; Granddaughter Merilee and husband Bryan Schmidt; grandson, Tony Mather; grandson, Jeromi and wife, Elysha Gleason; grandson Scotty Mather; grandson, Matt Gleason; grandson, Adam Gleason; grandson, Andrew Gleason; grandson, Alexander Gleason; great granddaughter, Ryley Gleason; great grandson, Finneas Gleason; great grandson, Sawyer Gleason; great grandson, Desmond Schmidt; sister-in-law, Sylvia Carr and sister-in-law Beverly Carr, sister-in-law Donna Gleason-Bopp and numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 1:00PM, December 15th, 2018 at Mountainview Christian Church, 1890 NE Cleveland Avenue, Gresham, Oregon with private inurnment at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon.
