Carol Milano Walton

April 14, 1941 – November 8, 2024

Family and friends are mourning the loss of Carol Milano Walton, who passed away Friday November 8, 2024, at Adventist Medical Center in Portland.

Carol was born April 14, 1941, in Price, Utah. She was the daughter of Charles Tony Milano and Helen Reeves. She graduated from Pullman High School in Pullman, Washington and later, attended Washington State University.

As a young adult, Carol moved to Reno, Nevada, where she developed an interest in politics and social justice. She ran for City Council in 1972 and later became a supporter of the National Organization for Women, often hosting local chapter meetings at her home.  Her strong passion for civic involvement inspired Carol to instill those beliefs in her children, teaching them to stay well-informed and speak up for themselves.

Later, Carol served as a clerk at the U.S. Veterans Administration. Her interest in worker rights eventually led her to serve her co-workers as a union president representing VA employees.

Carol was proceeded in death by her husband Harley Walton, she’s survived by her brothers, Mike and Tony Milano, five children, including Karen Insixiengmay, Barbara Jean Lucht, Steven Stone, Maria Stone Carlson, and Kim Stone Manweiler. She also had five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Hollywood Senior Center, where Carol enthusiastically attended its writing group for many years.

Memorial to be held, December 14, 2014, 2:00pm – 4:30pm. Please contact Jeannie Lucht at 503-421-2559 for more information
