Betty Marie Crowder was born on Thursday, May
14th, 1936 to the proud parents of Bloomey Mae
and Emmet Derry in Kaiser, AR. She had two sisters,
her younger twin, Billie Lou, and her older sister
Leidy.
After graduating Kaiser High School, she moved to
Memphis, TN and got a job at Sears/Roebuck & Co.
as a Sales Order Clerk. That’s how she met Carl
Crowder, who worked as a salesman for Sears at
another location in Memphis. They flirted over the
phone until one night they finally went out for a date.
And the rest is a romantic history.
Betty Marie Derry married Carl Waymond Crowder
and had three sons; Joseph, Jeffrey and Jason. She
was a blessing to everyone she knew and an
inspiration to her grandchildren, Waymond,
Wednesday and Wynter Crowder.
In 2006, Betty moved to Portland, OR with her
husband, Carl, and her eldest son, Joseph, to be
with her sons, Jason and Jeffrey and daughter-in-
law Wendi Mae Crowder, along with her
grandchildren.
She has gone to Heaven to be with her husband,
Carl Crowder, and is succeeded by her sons and
grandchildren. Betty Crowder was more than a
mother, she was a blessing, which we will love
forever.
