October 9, 1945 – October 27, 2023

Ann “Rooney” Barker passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 27, 2023, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Rooney was born in Phoenix, Arizona on October 9, 1945, to Patrick Joseph Mullen and Dorothy Louise Hagerty Mullen. The fourth of five children, she was raised in a loving, happy and fun family.  She had a great sense of humor and was always singing and putting on plays with her younger sister and neighborhood children.

She moved to Portland, Oregon after high school worked for several local governments including Portland City Hall, Portland Planning Division, Metro, and the City of Troutdale. Rooney was married three times, the last to Richard Alan Barker, with whom she was married to for 30+ years.

She loved to read, bead, garden and care for her cats, of which she had many over her lifetime. She loved music, mostly ‘bee-bop’ and ‘rock ‘n roll’ from the 50s and 60s and was a great dancer.

She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Richard. She is survived by her four siblings, Patricia Mullen and John “Jack” Mullen, both of Phoenix, AZ, Jane Coady, Scottsdale, AZ and Colleen Everroad, Hillsboro, OR, six nieces and nephews, and several grand-nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to thank the staff at Whitewood/Stephanie Gardens and the care team at Housecall Providers’ Medical & Hospice Services for their loving and tender care of Rooney. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
