Obituary
Doug, 64, died in early October 2026 at his residence in Portland. Not only was he a beloved brother and relative, a devoted friend to a few, but also an active member of his church—Saint Mark’s Episcopal in northwest Portland. By nature an introvert, Doug loved reading and recorded music (he had a tremendous collection of vinyl and compact discs), yet also followed soccer at home and abroad.
Born as the fourth and last child of parents Joseph D. and Jean Anne McCormick Mark, Doug came into the world in Albany, Oregon. He graduated from South Albany High School in 1980 and Southern Oregon State College four years later. After college he worked at a variety of jobs that included positions in the mining industry, security, and most especially as an insurance agent. Although Doug never married, he gave considerable time to family and friends.
Preceded in death by his parents, he also lost a sister (Mary) in 2023 and one brother (Ken) in 2024. Doug is survived by his brother Steve, as well as first cousins Mike, Lani, Lori, Lisa, Louie, Tina, Bill, and Paul. A memorial observance will be held graveside in the next few months at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Lebanon, Oregon.
