Celebrating the Life of Desia Flores

Desia “Nohno Des” Flores carried the warmth and spirit of her birthplace, Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia, everywhere she went. Raised by her beloved mother, Agnes Falcam and devoted father, Heinrich Iriarte, Desia learned early on that family was life’s greatest treasure. Desia was the matriarch of our family and a keeper of vast knowledge to our lineage and history of our ever growing family tree.

Desia was the second oldest of nine siblings who grew up enveloped in a loving, extended family — a beautiful foundation that shaped the rest of her days. Desia’s most prideful accomplishment in life that gave her great joy and devotion was being a grandmother. Desia enjoyed spending quality time and special moments with her family and grandchildren for every occasions in life. Desia’s favorite pastimes were playing bingo, cooking, singing along to her favorite songs and enjoying her appreciation for food, always favoring the local island dishes of her youth. Desia is well known among her family for her unique love for water, whether she was refreshing her face and hands, enjoying a crisp glass of water or happily crunching on ice chips.

Desia’s legacy of love lives on through her five children: Emihna, Kelly, Emily, Rudy & Rowell, and her eight cherished grandchildren: Deitriq, Luahn, Ryoo, Jiannee, Jeniva, Junior, Derek & Darian. Desia has been reunited in peace with her mother, her father, her two brothers, her two sisters, and her nephew.

When Desia peacefully passed away, the circle of love she spent a lifetime building, surrounded her completely in the presence of her children and grandchildren by her side, comforted by the thoughts and prayers of family and friends, stretching across the United States and back home to Pohnpei.
