July 23, 1948 - March 2, 2025 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends James (Jim) Leslie Burris passed away peacefully due to complications from pneumonia in his home at Miramonte Point, in Clackamas, OR on March 2nd at 10:45 AM. Jim was born in Grand Junction, Colorado, on July 23rd, 1948, to his parents Leslie and Mary Liz Burris. Jim grew up as a middle child, with an older sister, Susan and a younger sister, Kathy. As a young child Jim moved to Naperville, IL, where he lived for the rest of his youth. After graduating high school, Jim spent several years at the University of Chicago before moving to Portland, Or. Jim later graduated from Portland State University and had a career in photo processing until the 90’s when he retired due to complications from his multiple sclerosis. After settling in Portland Jim lived on a commune in NE Portland for several years before marrying his first wife, Devon. Jim had one son from his first marriage to Devon, Noah. After divorcing Devon, Jim met his 2nd wife Loretta Clark. They married in 1986 and remained married until Jim passed. Jim and Loretta adopted and raised a child together, Kim Burris. Jim enjoyed watching television, playing games, and was always defined by his infectious laugh. He was an avid photographer, and was involved with planning organizations, ensuring accessibility for renovations to Gabriel Park. Jim is survived by his wife Loretta Clark, his son Noah, daughter-in-law Michelle, and granddaughter Emma, his daughter Kimberly Burris, his sister Susan, brother-in-law Sam and brother-in-law Ken. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his sister Kathy. His kind and easygoing nature will be missed by all who got a chance to know him. “To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die.” Thomas Campbell Funeral service will be held at Lincoln Memorial on March 22, 2025 In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
