April 5, 1934 - March 17, 2024 Share your Memorial with Family & Friends Coral Lee Mayor, a beacon of love, grace, and warmth, left this world on March 17th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories. Born on April 5th, 1934, in Selby, South Dakota, to Ann and Dick Richards, Coral’s journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to her family, a profound love for adventure and travel, and an infectious zest for life. At the tender age of seven, Coral’s family embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Portland, Oregon, where she blossomed into the remarkable woman we all knew and loved. As the only child, Coral’s bond with her parents was unbreakable, and she treasured every moment spent with them. In the tapestry of Coral’s life, her love story with her beloved husband, Darrell Mayor, was woven with threads of devotion and shared adventures. United in marriage on May 27th, 1956, Coral and Darrell embarked on countless journeys, exploring the wonders of Egypt, Africa, Alaska, and the majestic Mayan ruins, creating a lifetime of cherished memories. Coral’s nurturing spirit extended to her role as a mother to three adoring children, Sandi, Richard, and Christie. Her home was always filled with love, laughter, and the aroma of her delicious home-cooked meals. She was the heart of her family, nurturing their souls with her gentle touch and unconditional love. Throughout her life, Coral found joy in the simple pleasures, from friendly card games of pinochle to crafting beautiful works of art. Her talents knew no bounds as she delighted in sewing, painting, and decorating for holidays, infusing every gathering with her creative flair and warmth. Before devoting herself to raising her children, Coral worked at Techtronics, where she demonstrated her exceptional work ethic and dedication. Later, she gracefully transitioned into the role of a homemaker, where her love and care were the foundation of her family’s happiness. Once their children were grown Coral spent many years working and eventually retiring from Mervyn’s. Coral and Darrel reveled in each other’s company and found solace in the tranquility of their cabin by the river in Rhododendron, beneath the majestic Mt. Hood. Their adventures continued as they traveled the open road in their motorhome to Arizona over the years, creating memories that would last a lifetime. She leaves behind her devoted husband, Darrell Mayor, her loving children, Sandi Foote, Richard Mayor, Christie Hempstead, Grandchildren, Whitney Brown, Christopher Foote, Brittany Miller, Corie Versen, Tosha Waller, Andrew Hempstead and Courtney Smith, and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Jacob, and Olivia Versen, Arya and Bria Brown, Beck Miller, Miles Smith, and three more expectant great-grandchildren, who will carry her legacy of love and compassion forward. These people were the light of her life, and she adored each and every one of them. Though she may have bid farewell to this world, Coral’s spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her gentle soul, caring nature and unwavering love will continue to inspire and guide us as we cherish the memories of a life beautifully lived. A celebration of Coral’s life will be held on April 6th at Coral and Darrell’s home, where we will gather to honor and remember the remarkable woman who touched our lives in countless ways. Until we meet again, may Coral’s spirit continue to shine brightly, illuminating our path with love and cherished memories.
