Obituary
Judy Lightoak (Palmer), 67 passed away in Portland, Oregon on September 19, 2026.
Judy was born to Paul Palmer and Doris Rosendahl, as the youngest of her siblings Alan, Donald, Pamela, Roger, Paula and Patricia. She survives her siblings, Patricia, Paula and Roger; her sons, Matthew and Jonathan Lachman; her granddaughters, nieces, nephews and friends.
Judy lived a life all over the United States, born in Groves, Texas. She grew up in San Jose, California before joining the Navy and meeting James Lachman. They moved to the greater Rochester, New York area in the early 80s, before separating. She raised her sons in the area and gained a bachelor’s degree in social work. She spent time working as a Social Worker for nonprofits in the area and as an advocate for better mental health care.
Judy later lived in Iowa after her children were raised, before finally settling in Portland. She enjoyed film, books, music, nature and helping locally among other various hobbies. She cherished the time she spent with family and friends, who will miss her dearly.
A small family gathering will be held by her sons to celebrate her life.
