Obituary
Karen was born on September 9, 1978, to Eugene (Bud) Van De Schiltz, Jr. and Kathryn (Kay) Rosenthal Van De Schiltz in Oregon City, Oregon.
She passed away on January 28, 2026, at the age of 47. She is survived by her husband, Frank Gaittens, her sister Kris (Van De Schiltz) Millar (Jim), nephews Tyler & Caden.
Her brother Jason Van De Schiltz, nephews Cody & Gabriel, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by both parents, and both sets of grandparents, and her beloved dog, Buddy.
Karen grew up in Oregon City, Oregon, and Canby, Oregon.
Like many people, she faced challenges throughout her life. Yet beneath those struggles was a person who loved and was loved in return.
Her laughter, gentle heart and love she shared with family and friends.
She leaves behind memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Though her journey was not always easy, her life touched many people.
She will be missed and forever carried in the hearts of her family and friends.
May she rest in peace.
Karen’s celebration of life will be held Sunday, August 9, 2026, at 1:30 pm at The Recovery Center, 16875 SE 82nd Drive, Clackamas, Oregon, 97015.
