Sheba Montgomery (Burris)

December 29, 1965 – August 8, 2022

Sheba Montgomery (Burris) died in the comfort of her own home with her daughter, Savannah by her side, in Portland Oregon on August 8, 2022.  She was 56 years old.

Sheba is survived by her parents Brandy Rose and Danny Burris; as well as her husband Daniel Montgomery; her daughter Savannah Johnson; her son Levi Johnson; her sisters Dannilee Mcneel and Wendy McDaniel; and her grandchildren Julius and Kylenn Dunlap.  She was preceded in death by her grandmother Anna McCartney; her daughter’s father, Michael Oudin; and her biological father, Leroy Crews.

Sheba was born on December 29, 1965, in Yuba City, California, to Brandy Rose and Leroy Crews and was later adopted by her now father, Danny Burris. She spent most of her years in Portland, Oregon where she was a manager for over 10 years at local Subways & Plaid Pantry’s. She then retired in 2005 due to multiple health conditions. In 2007 Sheba moved to Gadsden, Alabama where she met her husband, Daniel Montgomery. They were married in June 2014.

Sheba suffered multiple strokes and was a true fighter. She became a grandmother in July 2018 and that helped motivate her recovery. In July 2020, Sheba moved back to Portland Oregon to be with her daughter & grandson. While there she gained another grandchild in April 2021, her granddaughter Kylenn.

She loved to go to the beach and to just be outside.  To know her was to love her. She was an amazing daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and wife. Sheba loved music, movies and attending pow wows and other activities that connected her to her native American Heritage. She loved her grandchildren more than anything in this world. She enjoyed playing zombies with her grandson, Julius and giving kisses to her granddaughter, Kylenn.  Sheba was never afraid to speak her mind. Her honesty was absolute.

She was loved by so many more people than she even realized. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Sheba had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off her back to help somebody in need without even a second thought.

Family will be scattering Sheba’s ashes in Lincoln City, Oregon. She chose a spot that was meaningful to her and her children…a place they shared many happy memories. Please join us in remembering and celebrating the life of Sheba Montgomery (Burris) on August 21, 2022. A time will be determined.
