August 30, 1923 - August 22, 2012
Clara Belle (Freed) Shaw passed away peacefully at 88 years young; on 8/22/2012 at her home in Portland, Oregon.
Clara was born in Farmersburg, Indiana on 8/30/1923 to Samuel and Ollie Freed. She served in the Navy during WWII. While married she had six children: Alana, Claire, Kim, Al, Marvin and Penny, seven grandchildren, Andrea, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Trina, Jacob, Cole, Megan, and two great-grandchildren: Taylor and Joseph. Her children by marriage, Carl, Dan, Bill and Susan loved her as if she was their own mom.
A gathering of those who loved her most was held on 8/28/2012 at Omega Funeral & Cremation Service in Portland Oregon. Afterwards she was laid to rest with Military Honors at Willamette National Cemetery.
Clara dedicated her life and energy to her six children, who adore her. She was known as a fun and witty woman who worked hard and had a reputation for being generous and loving to family, co-workers, neighbors and strangers! No one can ever remember a selfish moment in her life.
Her favorite saying to those who she loved was, “You know I love you, don’t you?” All of us answer, “Yes, and we love you too, always.”
