July 6, 1923 - March 5, 2017
Velma Marie Laasch was born on July 6, 1923 to Francis and Ava Ledbetter in Caddo Gap, Arkansas. She was one of ten children, five boys and five girls. Survived by brother Jessie Ledbetter, sisters; Lonetta Lock and Christine Herron. So very many nieces and nephews that love her dearly and we wish we could all be together for the celebration of her life. Distance didn’t allow, but we know how much she is loved.
Velma moved to Oregon with a family member and later started working at the ship yards welding in the war movement as a Rosie Riveter. She met the love of her life in 1945, Harvey J Laasch (deceased), and had three beautiful children, James Harvey, Danny Lawrence (deceased) and Ava Jane.
She has four grandchildren; Marcella, Jeremiah, Francis and Roberta and five great grandchildren; Johnathan, Victoria, Malachi, Tristan and Emma.
She loved and taught us how to love and to care for others. Her joy was giving to others and teaching us lifes most precious lessons. She was an angel among us, always giving of herself to others.
Even in her last hours she “gave” comfort with a wink and a smile and love in her eyes. You knew you were loved!!! Harvey Laasch passed March the 5th, 1989 on a Sunday, and Velma Laasch passed March the 5th, also on a Sunday.
