October 21, 1934 - July 23, 2018
On the morning of July 23rd, surrounded by family, Richard Lee Corbett passed away at the age of 83.
Richard was born in St. Paul, Nebraska on October 21st, 1934, to parents Harley Lee Corbett and Marjorie Eunice (Dooley) Corbett and grew up in Woodburn, Oregon. Richard graduated from Woodburn High School and enlisted in the Air Force in 1952. Richard met and married Dolores Poole in 1956. They raised their three children in Portland, Oregon.
After moving to Portland, Richard worked for Ajax Electric and later worked in and retired from the insurance business. He lived most of his life disabled by a diving accident while in the service, yet he kept a positive attitude. He always said, “You don’t have to look very far to see someone worse off than you.” It was his nature to reach out to those in need, and his perseverance to help others changed many lives.
Richard and Dolores were devoted long-time members of the Church at Rockwood. Richard’s philosophy of life was God and family first. He was an avid fisherman who spent many happy hours with family and friends, a fishing pole in hand.
Richard is survived by his wife Dolores and three children: his oldest son Brian and his wife Stephanie; his daughter Debi and her husband Bill; and his youngest son, Bruce. He is also survived by five grandsons: Matt and his wife Staci; Nathan and his wife Mercedes; Nick; Zack; and Aaron; and great-granddaughter, Ava. Richard was preceded in death by siblings Wayne, Bonnie, Bill, and Max, and survived by his brother Robert.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on September 29th, 2018, at The Church at Rockwood: 19626 NE Glisan Street, Portland, Oregon, 97230. CLICK HERE FOR DIRECTIONS
