Karen graduated from High School in Napa, California. She also attended Napa Junior College. She was invited to stay with her favorite Aunt Fern Murdock in Boise, Idaho. During the young adult activities, she met Dean Wilson, whom she loved to dance with. They were married 30 Dec 1961 in the LDS Los Angeles temple. Their first home was in Homedale, Idaho. Her husband taught math and science in the local high school. After four years, her husband accepted a Physics teaching position in Portland Community College. Although with a young family, she enjoyed traveling with him while he attended many colleges & universities around the country.
Karen loved to read religious, history and genealogy books and magazines. She was very successful in learning and doing genealogy work for her English, German, and Danish ancestors. She was always reading the scriptures having them being replaced because of much use.
Karen served for many years with the LDS youth in Primary, Cub Scouts, and Scouts.
She faithfully worked fourteen years in the Portland Oregon temple. Her husband worked with her for her last seven years in that temple. This was a very special and enjoyable time to work together in that important service.
She loved the out-of-doors, especially the gatherings and reunions of her family and relatives. She loved to ride often up the Columbia River gorge. Her favorite was the gathering with family at the beach in Lincoln City each year, where they celebrated her birthday on the 4th of July and enjoyed the fireworks in the evening. All, including her grandchildren, as well as Karen have many good memories of these good times.
She could not of been a better wife, companion, & mother. She learned well how a well ordered home should be conducted, cleanliness and good meals. What is right was always what came first. She was a product of the correct principles she learned in her youth.
