Today, we celebrate the life of

Carl Alvin McCalmant…

Born on September 11, 1937, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. The youngest child of Charles and Florence out of 3 siblingswhich included Jim and Fay. Father of John, Charles, and Lawana McCalmant, and married to Tim McCalmant.

Carl McCalmant was the retired Vietnam Combat Veteran in the United States Airforce with 23 years of service for his country. He was proud of his military service and Scottish Heritage which he often displayed for other people to see.

Carl was a loving father, husband, and mentor to so many people. He would go to any length to help those dear to him, willing to go the extra mile to achieve something even as a smile. Father to many children even those who weren’t related, but welcome them into his home with open arms. It was the kind of person he was. Sometimes he was the wisest of us, other times he was the biggest child, always laughing at his own jokes, his laugh so iconic that those who knew him, could hear him today laughing. Don’t cry but be happy for him, because he lived a good life which many would consider a fairy tale. Not too many people find their high school sweetheart Netta Knit to live another life after his wife Tim passed away. It’s a fairy tale and people do live happy ever after. Thank you to everybody that was a part of his life and shared his happy memories.

Carl leaves behind his children John, Charles, and Lawana McCalmant. Grandchildren Kasha, Kyle, and Demi. His Heart and girlfriend Netta Knit. Sister in Laws, Windy Lewis, and Winnie Phengsynath. Daughter-in-law Kanlaya Sirlanoot.Carl was laid to rest at Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Oregon with full Military Honors, complete with bagpipes
